Lord Jamar on Holding Money to Your Ear & Backlash from Jay-Z’s 4:44 Album

A hip-hop legend in his own right, Lord Jamar stopped by VladTV for another unforgettable interview discussing contemporary issues in the culture. This time around, DJ Vlad and Lord Jamar dissect Jay-Z’s newest album, 4:44 and the backlash it has received. Vlad crowns HOV as one of the first to ever rap about generational wealth in the hip-hop community as he and Lord Jamar discuss the now infamous “money phone” and ways in which the black community can accumulate wealth. Watch above.

Vlad giving that to jay z. Generational wealth. NO. Jay z not the first. Plus Nas give a lot of his credits to his daughter. Which is a bigger statement of generational wealth. Man Vlad stay hating on Nas.

People always use depreciation to illustrate lost value on a new vehicle. Depreciation is the wrong word for loss of value. Depreciation means the cost of an asset divided by its useful life. Its how you allocate cost each year (for tax purposes). Its actually a good thing.

These dumb ignorant rappers are just mad that Jay Z is calling them out on their bullshit.and theres nothing they can say or do about it. They cant call Jay Z broke and hater because has more money than 90% of all these rappers combined. They cant say he doesn't know what he's talking about because he been in the rap game over 20 years, been through more than these rappers can ever imagine and has sold over 100 Million Records. These New Rappers are pathetic and don't push HIP HOP culture forward.

that money on the ear annoys the shit out of me , that's one of the main reasons WHY I HATE today's mainstream music .. these dudes will sellout to ANYONE …not because of talent ..
white record executive : "LETS make black people look stupid ..i promise you a bag of money."
dumbass rapper : "OKAY lets get this money …"

More emcees with a high position in the game should see this album as an example instead of all the criticism (which is usually a defense mechanism or reflection of guilt )

The way Jay-Z put it, it confronts the common culture more directly than when other rappers have talked about generational wealth. That's what Jamar was lookin' for there.
