Havoc on Jay-Z Dissing Mobb Deep: NY was Supposed to be Unified

In this clip, Havoc goes in depth about the Mobb Deep’s early releases and the success that followed. Havoc details how Hell on Earth going gold got him out of the projects, although he continued to spend the majority of his time there. He later spoke about the Quiet Storm remix which is commercially one of Mobb Deep’s most successful tracks and features what Havoc believes is Lil Kim’s best verse. He also indirectly dispelled rumors of Lil Kim not writing her material, stating that he saw her write that legendary verse. Havoc went from talking about Lil Kim to another Brooklyn MC, JAY-Z. Hov and Mobb Deep had a publicized beef back in the day and Havoc was not feeling it. He stresses the point that the beef with JAY was something he wanted to avoid simply because they shared a hometown. Prodigy, on the other hand, was much more engaged and direct with his disdain for Hov which eventually caused friction between the Queens duo. Fast forward to 2017 and JAY-Z listed Mobb Deep as one of his influences during a barrage of tweets.

Jay's one of the most overrated rappers imo. People only rank him up high cause he was a smart business man and made hella money off of building his empire. Big L outshined Jay when he was alive and Nas showed him what a real diss track is. Plus Jay ain't want no smoke with Prodigy. P would kill him in a rap beef and if it came down to street shit. Like Nas said, "First Biggie's ya man now you claim you better than Big, dick suckin lips. Let the late great veteran live."

I disagree with jigga to a point. Mobb Deep did do L.A. L.A which was ?. But it was madd lyrical and short on punchlines.

It's interesting how 2Pac had beef with JAY and Mobb Deep. Mobb Deep had also beef with JAY Z.
It is a nice beef triangle. Legends battling legends, disses coming from everywhere.

Snakey as Vlad is, u can actually tell who the real ni99as are in his interviews. Vlad bait game is level: expert on these mf. And u can watch from guest to guest how they handle the shit.

Example: how many times Vlad asked him how they felt over Jay Z dissin em. Tried to get him to say some click bait shit.
2nd example: If Vlad really gave a fuck about the culture he wouldve touched more on Havoc leaving to projects and getting his shit right. Instead he jumped to the next album @ 1:01

Havoc seems like he was too soft in this whole Jay situation, basically he just validated what Jay said about NY being soft since that snoop dogg building shit.

Mobb was dissing J first because they were haters…period. just like alot of rappers back then.

Now everyone acts like they are die hard Mobb Deep fans. Their production/beats/music, has always been better than their lyrics.

What started this beef anyway? And I agree with jay being overrated. But I can't knock ppl for looking up to his success. Similar to Floyd how everybody gawks over him. Pen wise jay arguably ain't even top 10 forreal. But he has a swagger that's unmatched. Almost like goodz for my battle rap fans.
