The Jacka (@theJacka) Ft. Freddie Gibbs (@FreddieGibbs) – “Can’t Go Home”

Five years after his death and in honor of “Jack History Month,” The Jacka’s immeasurably wise and spiritual presence returns with the announcement of Murder Weapon, a posthumous tribute album to the Oakland icon. It will feature Freddie Gibbs, Curren$y, Berner, Paul Wall, Styles P, The Mob Figaz, Cormega, and more, and is due 2/28 via the Jacka’s own label The Artist Records and EMPIRE.

Along with the announcement comes “Can’t Go Home,” the first tease off the album featuring Freddie Gibbs. It’s bittersweet to hear the Jacka’s raspy, conversational bars as he raps about the come up and the generosity he became known for, with the opening line, “My people lookin’ at me, sayin’ ‘boy, you made it out!’/But I wasn’t happy ’til we all had the same amount.” Gibbs chimes in on his verse and mirrors the Jacka’s true-to-the-streets mentality, spitting, “Since I touched the game, that sh*t ain’t been the same/They tryna freeze me out but they can’t kill the kane/Make a million every time I drop, so f*ck the fame.”
