Georgia’s own Rot Ken is ready to separate himself from the pack with his new project Yahweh Child. “Yahweh” by definition is a form of the Hebrew name of God used in the Bible. “Yahweh Child” = God’s child and Ken has ample proof that he’s been chosen by God for this as he’s signed to Internet Money and BoyMeetSpace (jetsonmade), two heavyweight labels/collectives who believe he’s the next to blow. On the project, even as he masters the sound of his home state’s current rap scene, his unique energy and confidence shine. He makes magic on production from OG Parker, Internet Money’s Taz Taylor, jetsonmade, and more. A couple of my fave tracks are “Yea Yea” ft. Yung Sinn and “Gigi.”
The new video for “Mask On,” one of the standout tracks, is the icing on the cake of this project release. From Ken’s high-pitched triplets to his crew echoing his sentiments on the hook, the jetsonmade-produced track is an undeniable speaker-knocking banger. In the video, Ken flexes in a colorful sweater as he balls out with his crew, moving in silence from the basketball court to a bank vault.
