LB199X isn’t waiting until February to highlight the black leaders that helped shape the man he is today. After name-dropping Huey P. Newton, Marcus Garvey, Martin Luther King Jr., and more on the opening lines, the DC-born MC is clearly operating on a higher level. Like many, LB199X is tired of seeing black-on-black crime and systemic oppression affecting the same neighborhoods that raise young African American men like himself. The Guin Records representative has always been bold in speaking his mind. After the unfortunate passing of both of his parents, he knew it was only suitable that he stood tall and found a way to share his light with the world.

LB199X on “Leaders”:

“Leaders is a song about Black leaders who died by the hands of their own people. I wanted to show truth in the matter, we are better together rather than separated. . I spoke on Kings because, as black men, we are kings and we need to express the power of Community and Pushing our message forward with the ones who are brave enough to stand up for a purpose”

The Glenarden, Maryland entertainer has been making waves in the city since his headlining show at Union Stage in Washington, D.C. His willingness to share his platform is a testament to his spirit and genuine nature. LB199X has big plans to sow back into the community that raised him. Fans should also be on the lookout for new music soon from DMV’s newest hometown hero.
