With over 17 years of writing experience Singer/songwriter known as “Elayne”, releases her first project as an aspiring independent artist titled “IAMELAYNE”. At just 7 years old Elayne began writing poetry to help cope with her transitional trauma that sparked from her parents divorce which quickly led to songwriting by the age of 9.
Raised in the midst of the Bay Area (California). Elayne grew up listening to musical icons (Or what she referred to as her moms “clean up music”!) such as : Mtume, Mary J Bilge, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Betty Wright, And many more! Rappers like : E-40, Too Short, Lil Wayne , Tupac, & Lauryn Hill were also apart of her upbringing in music culture, that led to her unique sound that many have referred to as “refreshing” or “different”. Priding herself on having “No Genre” Elayne creates music that captivates her soul! She describes her music as both, “entertaining” and “therapeutic”.
In 2018 (at age 19). After the death of her step grandfather (her “grandpa”) Elayne moved to Atlanta where he last resided, to aspire her dreams of becoming a full time artist and pursue her career in music (which her grandfather had always hoped she would).
Today (4 years later) after a few popular single releases (“penthouse” 2021) , (“Wet” 2022). Elayne gifts us with something a little more personal/insightful with her first project (“IAMELAYNE”). Which breaks down the emotional aspects of her life that partially led to who she’s is today and all that she aspires to be.
