Havoc discusses how Mobb’s Deep first album, “Juvenile Hell”, flopped and how they were subsequently dropped from their first label. Mobb Deep quickly bounced back, signing to Steve Rifkind’s Loud Records. "Unsigned Hype" was one of my favorite sections of The Source. I still have the issues where Poetical Prophets (Mobb Deep), Biggie, Nas, and Eminem were featured. It was a guaranteed deal until about the late '90s, and then it was like The Source lost its cache after that. The south blew up and so did indie rap. They got wrapped up in the beef with Benzino and Eminem… and just fell to irrelevance. Plus, XXL was launched and it took away a lot of their writers and readers.
